GREENVILLE, S.C. (FOX Carolina) – Doctors are now recommending women who are done having children have their fallopian tubes removed to help prevent ovarian cancer, instead of the more widely known procedure of having them tied.
Jasmine Wicker had the procedure, known as a salpingectomy, done during a C-section for her second son.
“I had my fallopian tubes removed when I had a C-section; this was with my second son. It was a decision I made based on the fact that I do have a gene mutation that predisposes me to ovarian cancer,” Wicker said.
