With a rallying cry of “Hearts to Carts,” dozens of Food Lion employees formed an assembly line at Second Harvest Food Bank’s Williamston facility on Wednesday, Sept. 23, packing 2,000 boxes of food in about an hour for Upstate families facing a growing struggle to put meals on the table.
Food Lion, partnered with Second Harvest Food Bank of Metrolina in Williamston, to assemble 2,000 boxes of food. Employees packed the boxes with a variety of canned goods and in unison said “Hearts to Carts” before the sort-a-rama event.
The food is distributed through agencies and with mobile units in Anderson, Oconee, Pickens, Greenwood, and Abbeville counties…
