A South Carolina man will spend more than three decades behind bars after he pleaded guilty to the chilling murder of 35-year-old Philip Hughey, who went missing in August 2023.
Jared Tierce viciously strangled Hughey till he heard a popping sound
According to the Anderson County Sheriff’s Office, the 35-year-old disappeared from the Williamston area on August 20, 2023.
Two days later, authorities discovered the victim’s body wrapped in a rug down an embankment along Cox Lake Road, Belton. Hughey had signs of multiple traumatic injuries.
Prosecutors alleged Jared Tierce and Jacob Barber, who were arrested at the time, had held the victim captive by restraining him with zip ties, but Hughey managed to escape. Tierce would later confirm that the victim had gotten free of the restraints…
