GREENVILLE, S.C. (WSPA) – An Upstate actress from the movie “The Color Purple” was nominated for an Oscar on Tuesday.
Simpsonville native Danielle Brooks was nominated for her role as Sofia.

- Emily Blunt, “Oppenheimer”
- Danielle Brooks, “The Color Purple”
- America Ferrara, “Barbie”
- Jodie Foster, “Nyad”
- Da’Vine Joy Randolph, “The Holdovers”
Brooks was the only nomination for the film.
The Oscar winners will be announced on March 10.
