CLEMSON, S.C. (FOX Carolina) – Backyard poultry flocks and pet waterfowl are in danger from a communicable disease. Clemson University animal health officials issued a warning to owners of backyard poultry flocks and pet waterfowl to keep their animals away from wild waterfowl and the waters they inhabit. Backyard flocks in Horry and Orangeburg counties fell ill with the Eurasian strain of Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza (HPAI), and it is believed the carriers were wild birds and the waterways they frequent.
