Spartanburg man gets 25 years in prison for burglary

SPARTANBURG COUNTY, S.C. (WSPA) — A man will spend the next 25 years in prison for burglarizing a home.

According to the Office of the Seventh Circuit Solicitor, Benjamin Louis Nation was found guilty of first degree burglary on Wednesday.

In January 2023, a homeowner on Lanham Circle in Spartanburg had unlocked the backdoor to let his dogs out into the backyard. The homeowner then heard his dogs reacting to something, then heard a voice in the house.

The homeowner found Nation in the hallway. The two had previously met, as Nation was friends with the homeowner’s former roommate. Nation had also done some work on the home in the past.

After confronting Nation and telling him to leave, Nation refused.

Spartanburg County deputies were then called to the home, and were able to remove Nation. According to the solicitor’s office, the 30-year-old appeared to be under the influence of narcotics.

Nation has trespassed at the home 32 days before the above incident, as was on probation at the time of the burglary.
