Top OL Target on Clemson: ‘I Could Definitely See Myself There’

Clemson hosted a number of top offensive line prospects for the program’s Jan. 27 elite junior day, including a highly regarded interior OL target from the Volunteer State.

Lipscomb Academy (Nashville, Tenn.) four-star Chauncey Gooden came away impressed after his elite junior day experience.

It marked the 6-foot-4, 315-pound class of 2025 recruit’s first trip to Tiger Town since April of last year.

“I enjoyed Clemson very much,” Gooden told The Clemson Insider. “It was a great all-around experience. It’s just one big family and a lot of fun.”

The visit gave Gooden a good opportunity to interact at length in person with Matt Luke, the Tigers’ new O-line coach.

“Coach Luke is one of the best college (offensive line coaches),” Gooden said. “He’s done it everywhere and he’s been successful at it, so is definitely always good to build a relationship with that high standard of a coach.”

Gooden, who has amassed a slew of scholarship offers, announced a top 10 this past December featuring Clemson along with Michigan, Oregon, Auburn, Colorado, Oklahoma, Tennessee, South Carolina, Missouri and Georgia.
