Wreaths Across America mobile tour to make a stop in Spartanburg

SPARTANBURG, S.C. (WSPA) – Wreaths Across America’s mobile museum is making a stop in Spartanburg on Tuesday to honor veterans and bring awareness to the organization’s cause.

Every December, Wreaths Across America places a wreath on the headstones of veterans across the country.

“The year prior (2022) we did 2.7 million wreaths, last year we were able to do 3.1 million… out of that 3.1 million that was three million volunteers,” Mobile Exhibit Ambassador, Robert Easley said.

Members of the American Legion Post 28 in Spartanburg are among those volunteers.

“Some of our members do this every year in December and we go out and put wreaths on the graves and things,” Commander Carroll Owings said.

Wreaths Across America’s visit to Spartanburg aims to help teach people about why they lay wreaths.

“The mobile education exhibit is a unit that travels all over the United States. This year we are focusing on the Midwest and our mission is to remember the fallen, honor those who served and teach those the value of freedom,” Easley said.
