Trial begins for Spartanburg Co. man accused of murdering his daughters boyfriend

SPARTANBURG COUNTY, S.C. (WSPA) – Kenneth Lewis was charged with murder in 2020. Officers said he shot and killed his daughter’s boyfriend. On Monday his trial began in Spartanburg County.

After the jury was selected, a pre-trial began, in which the jury was not present for.

At that time the defense called to the stand the investigator who worked the case.

That investigator said the shooting happened back in November of 2020 around 9:30 a.m.

Officers responded to a location in Roebuck about a quarter mile from Kenneth Lewis’ home for reports of gunfire.

Deputies said when they arrived they found Lorn Kyle Wofford lying in the yard, after being shot.

Lewis reportedly told investigators he believed Wofford was responsible for burns his daughter, Terry Lewis, had recently suffered in which she was taken to the hospital and then flown to the Augusta Burn Center.

His daughter testified Wofford did abuse her, by beating her and “shooting her up” with meth in her sleep but she claimed she could not remember how she was set on fire.
