Multiple Arrests Made in South Carolina Over the Past Few Days

Former Anderson Police Officer Charged with Excessive Force:

Former Anderson police officer Brantley Keith Creel is facing charges for using excessive force during two separate arrests in 2023, as reported by the South Carolina Enforcement Division (SLED). Creel, 35, allegedly caused bodily harm to the victims while they were handcuffed.

During a November 3, 2023 arrest, Creel reportedly kneed a victim twice in the head/neck area, resulting in two jaw fractures. In another incident on November 14, 2023, Creel allegedly caused a victim to hit his head on a railing post, requiring medical attention for a four-inch laceration treated with two staples.

Creel was terminated from his job on November 29, 2023, and faces charges of misconduct in office, assault and battery first degree, and assault and battery second degree. SLED is currently investigating allegations against another Anderson police officer for misconduct.
