1 dead after fatal car crash in Greer

GREER, S.C. (WSPA) — Officials in Greer are investigating a deadly car crash that occurred Saturday morning.

According to the Greer Police Department, the crash occurred around 11:18 a.m., near the intersection of SC 101 and Highway 296.

A 2016 Nissan Altima and 2018 Honda CR-V were involved in the crash.

The driver of the the Nissan Altima, identified as Jonathan Matthew Long, died after being transported to Pelham Medical Center. Long was 43-years-old.

Initial investigation revealed that the Honda CR-V was stopped at a traffic light on Highway 101, at the intersection of Highway 296, when the Nissan Altima was travelling south and hit the Honda from behind.

Both the Greer Police Department and the Spartanburg County Coroner’s office are investigating the crash.
