Greenville Co. voting officials announce duplicate absentee ballot mistake

GREENVILLE COUNTY, S.C. (WSPA) – Officials with the Greenville County Voter Registration and Election Board announced a mistake made with absentee ballots.

According to officials, a daily mailing of absentee ballots was duplicated by the Greenville County Elections Office.

Officials said 54 voters were mailed duplicate absentee ballots for the Republican Presidential Preference Primary. These voters will have received the additional ballot in the mail.

Officials said these voters are not to vote the second ballot, mail it, or return it voted.

Absentee voters should not give the ballot to anyone else for them to cast an absentee ballot that is not authorized.

Officials said the office will be calling each of the voters with an explanation and instructions.

According to the Voter Registration and Election Board, each ballot envelope is returned to the office and logged in. If a second ballot is returned by a voter, it will not be processed.

Officials remind that it will not affect anyone’s vote and a double vote will not be allowed.
