SC man arrested after 5-month nationwide search

TRAVELERS REST, S.C. (WSPA) – After a nationwide search since January, police announced a suspect wanted for numerous theft charges in several counties has been arrested.

According to the Travelers Rest Police Department, Michael Tremaine Jacksonson was arrested on his warrants in Orlando, Florida in June. On Monday, the Greenwood Police Department traveled to Florida and executed their warrants.

The search involved multiple agencies in South Carolina and Florida, including the U.S. Marshalls. Authorities said Jackson had over 40 warrants from numerous law enforcement departments including the Travelers Rest Police Department.

7NEWS previously reported that Jackson followed a 75-year-old woman around multiple aisles of a Walmart in an attempt to steal her wallet from her purse. At the time of the theft, officials said Jackson was wearing a lab coat, COVID-19 mask and a baseball cap.

After allegedly obtaining the wallet, Jackson left Walmart, drove away and went to a different Walmart store. He reportedly bought two prepaid $500 Visa cards using three of the victim’s credit cards.
