Settlement reached after man dies in Upstate Jail

A settlement of over 2 million dollars has been reached after a man died while in custody at an Upstate jail. Kenneth Tucker died while being held at the Greenville County Detention Center.

He was in custody 17 days and reportedly lost more than 30 pounds. Court records say that Tucker was also severely dehydrated when he died.

Attorneys for Tucker argued that Greenville County was liable for his death and he would still be alive if he had been provided adequate health care. Tucker reportedly was brought in while he was having a mental health crisis.

Local activist Bruce Wilson was involved in assisting the family and helping them seek legal counsel.
