Michelin celebrates 50 years in South Carolina

GREENVILLE, S.C. – Michelin celebrated a milestone 50 years of business in South Carolina, along with 35 years of its North American headquarters based in Greenville. Michelin’s president and CEO remarked that factors such as available land, port access, and skilled workforce led to the company’s establishment in the state half a century ago. The first plant came online in Anderson in 1974, and Michelin now operates 15 facilities in South Carolina. Company officials said the total annual economic impact associated with Michelin’s current activities in South Carolina exceeds $8 billion.
