Greenville Co. man sentenced to 48 years, kidnapping and murder

GREENVILLE COUNTY, S.C. (WSPA) – Jeffrey Michael George, 50, was convicted on Friday to 48 years for murder and kidnapping , according to the Thirteenth Circuit Solicitor’s Office.

Evidence presented at the trial showed that on December 1, 2019, George conspired with others to lure the victim, Ivan Gula, to a residence in Greer. When the victim arrived to the residence, George held a gun to his head while the other co-defendant, David Stokes, struck him multiple times with a machete, according to the Solicitor’s Office.

The evidence later showed that George transported Gula’s body into the bed of his truck and dropped it off to the burial spot that was a short distance away from the crime scene, the Solicitor’s Office stated.

The Solicitor’s Office stated that Stokes has pleaded guilty to murder and kidnapping and is currently awaiting his sentence.
