Upstate school districts, universities to close Monday, Tuesday

GREENVILLE COUNTY, S.C. (WSPA) – Upstate school districts are announcing closures as officials continue to address damage caused by Tropical Storm Helene.

Greenville County Schools announced that the district will be closed on Monday, September 30 and Tuesday, October 1. The district said with a wide spread of power and internet outages, eLearning is not possible.

Cherokee County School District also announced that all facilities will be closed Monday and Tuesday. An eLearning day will not be implemented. The Gaffney High School football game has been cancelled for Monday.

Spartanburg County School Districts 1-7 said they will be closed Monday and Tuesday, and will also not have an eLearning day.

USC Upstate announced that all classes are canceled Monday and Tuesday and our campus will be running remotely for nonessential employees due to inclement weather.

All Anderson County School Districts will have an eLearning day on Monday.

After Helene rolled over the area on Thursday, thousands of people are still without power in the Upstate, Duke Energy said that it could take days to restore power to everyone.
