Spartanburg Library a place to use Wi-Fi, charge devices after Helene; helping Asheville

Adeline Wolfe, an Asheville resident, grew up in Spartanburg. Now, she’s working with Spartanburg County Public Libraries to bring aid to her home of four years.

Wolfe is a Community Rental Investments staff member at Mountain Housing Opportunities (MHO), a nonprofit specializing in building and improving housing for low-income individuals in Buncombe County.

Wolfe connected with County Librarian Todd Stephens, a longtime friend and mentor, soon after the storm. The libraries will collect supplies, and Wolfe and MHO will distribute donated supplies to affected families and individuals around Asheville.

“I think, if anything, disasters like this kind of illuminate the fact that we all need each other, and we can all take care of each other as we come together in times like this,” Wolfe said. “It’s really illuminating that every part of your life can come together and work toward having each other’s backs in times of crisis like this.”

Wolfe said gallon-size drinking water, food that requires little water to prepare, cleaning and hygiene supplies, and diapers of all sizes are all very necessary items at the moment.
