Letters: District 33 S.C. House candidate Turregano is the kind of leader state needs

During this election season, I’ve been really impressed by one candidate in particular – Clemson Turregano, or, as he says it, Clemson T for 33.

Talking to Clemson, I’ve learned that he’s committed to paying teachers a fair wage and giving them the tools and support they need to succeed. I’ve worked for universities for most of my professional life, so I support anything that prepares students to succeed in higher education.

Clemson’s also a military veteran with a long history of service, and he has built his career around teaching others about leadership. We could use a few more trained leaders in Columbia and a few less politicians who just want to scare people into voting for them.

There are a lot of new people coming to South Carolina … and I’m one of them. I recently moved back here, and I’m happy with the life I’m building. I just wish state government was a little less extreme. I want a government that supports people when they need it and minds its own business the rest of the time.
