SPARTANBURG, S.C. (WSPA) – Converse University has brought on multiple new majors over the past year, with a focus on what the Spartanburg job market needs.
Converse University Associate Provost for Student Success, Will Case, said the university partnered with One Spartanburg on this research project.
“We look at the talent gap in analysis in Spartanburg County, as well as in the state to see where those opportunities are, where are our students want to go and in what specific areas can we address those needs and what employers are looking for,” Case said.
Dean of the School of Business and Data Science, Dr. Jessica Sorrells said that One Spartanburg has helped identified the biggest talents needed, hence why they added those two majors.
“One Spartanburg has actually identified data science and data analytics as one of the biggest gaps talents that we have here right now,” Sorrells said.
Case said this addition heavily involved student feedback. He said a lot of the research involves conversations with students.
