GREENVILLE — From a densely packed downtown Greenville café, North Carolina Attorney Attorney General Josh Stein urged supporters on Friday to get friends and neighbors to the polls just ahead of the 2024 general election.
“We’ve got two days of voting,” Stein said at The Scullery on Evans Street in downtown Greenville. “If you’ve already voted, I hate to tell you, your job now is to get five people who have not voted, to get them to the polls.
“We’ve got days that we can get to work. We can get our people to the polls and we have to get them to the polls, because if we do the work …”
Supporters finished that statement with Stein.
“We will win,” they said.
While various polls show Stein with double-digit leads over Republican Lt. Gov. Mark Robinson in the governor’s race, the Democrat emphasized North Carolina’s historically tight elections. He cited his first race for attorney general, which he won by 13,000 votes, and emphasized the need to vote down the ballot for Council of State candidates and local legislators like N.C. Sen. Kandie Smith and N.C. House District 8 Rep. Gloristine Brown, who introduced Stein at Friday’s visit.
