1 arrested, 1 injured in crash after shoplifting incident at Upstate Walmart

PICKENS, S.C. (WSPA) – One person was arrested and another was injured after a shopping incident at Walmart ended in a crash in Pickens.

The Pickens Police Department said, that on Saturday before 9 p.m., an officer was in the Walmart parking lot and noticed a cart of stolen merchandise being taken to a vehicle.

Police did not disclose what items were reported seen being taken away from the store. The items were put into the car and the driver fled the scene, police said.

Officers pursued the vehicle until the driver crashed near the city limits of Easley.

Two people were in the vehicle during the crash, officers said.

One occupant was taken to the hospital for their injuries due to the crash.

Their condition is unknown at this time.

The other individual later identified as Latonya Ramsey was arrested and charged with shoplifting.

The case remains under investigation by the Pickens Police Department.
