CLEMSON, S.C. (WSPA) – Do you live in Clemson and want to be a voice in the community?
City leaders are looking for volunteers to serve on various boards, committees, and commissions.
Jeremiah Jackson, a city clerk, said he was a part of a committee before working for the city.
“I was a young business owner in town, and I wanted to get involved,” recounted Jackson. “I’ve always been interested in the city and wanting to find a way that I can help be involved and that was one way that I could do it.”
The city is looking for residents who will volunteer their time by serving on a committee, board or commission and giving feedback about how to make the city better.
“There’s boards and commissions varying from Planning Commission and Board of Architectural Review, Sustainability Commission, lots of different boards and commissions, based on different things for the city,” said Jackson.
Jackson said some positions have specific requirements.
“They’re all important. We have some that are very specific, like our Sustainability Commission has to be filled by a landscape architect or someone in that field,” said Jackson. “For our Economic Development Advisory it’s harder to find someone that owns a business on Highway 93 that would be willing to volunteer their time.”
