CLEMSON – Coming off the disappointing loss to Louisville last week, No. 23 Clemson looks to turn the page as it heads to Blacksburg, Va., to take on Virginia Tech Saturday (3:30 p.m., ESPN).
Running back Phil Mafah spoke with the media earlier this week about how he and the Tigers plan to respond against the Hokies and more.
–Against the Cardinals, Mafah had a season high of 98 snaps of offense. The running back had 30 carries for 171 yards. He said, “my body was pretty fatigued after,” but that he was “willing to do whatever it takes to get out there and play, be a competitor. I love to play the game.”
–The running back said he is impressed with the way the Tigers have come back into this week to prepare. “I’ve seen us just grow and learn from our mistakes, especially yesterday…just continue to learn from last week and use it as a teacher to prepare for Virginia Tech.”
–Mafah was asked how he has seen this team respond after the loss. He replied, “I think we’re going to respond just by focusing, especially on today. Just being locked in…focusing on no taking the ball away, no turnovers…we just have to lock in on today and be highly detailed.”
