USDA: Yu Shang Food Recalls 4,589 Pounds of RTE Meat for Listeria Risk

Yu Shang Food, Inc., based in Spartanburg, S.C., has issued a recall for approximately 4,589 pounds of ready-to-eat (RTE) meat and poultry products, the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced Saturday.

According to FSIS, it discovered the potential contamination following routine testing and subsequent follow-up activities on products manufactured by Yu Shang Food, Inc. on October 21, 2024.

Test results confirmed the presence of Listeria monocytogenes, a harmful bacterium that can lead to serious infections, particularly for individuals with compromised immune systems., the department stated.

For pregnant women, listeriosis can lead to severe complications, including miscarriages and stillbirths, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

The affected RTE meat and poultry items were produced between October 21 and October 27, 2024, and are marked with “used by” dates from August 21, 2025, to August 27, 2025, the department said.
