Greenville Co. debris collection to continue until ‘at least’ January 2025

GREENVILLE COUNTY, S.C. (WSPA) – It’s been nearly a month and a half since Hurricane Helene hit the Upstate , and debris collection in Greenville County is still underway.

So far, the contractor has gathered more than 330,000 cubic yards of debris.

The county said the debris contractor is working seven days a week, and that debris collection will continue until at least January 2025.

“We are trying to clear as many roads as possible in advance of the Thanksgiving holiday,” the county added.

More than 80,000 cubic yards of storm debris collected in Spartanburg Co.

For the rest of November, the county said that debris collection will be focused on the following areas:

  • Pickens/Anderson county border at SC 124/SC 253, north to Travelers Rest area, and east from US 25 over to SC 290 with US 29-Wade Hampton Blvd as the southern border
  • Fork Shoals Road, south of I-85, from Pleasantburg Drive to SC 418, all the way to the eastern county border adjacent to Spartanburg County
  • US 29-Wade Hampton Blvd from US 29/SC 291, south to I-85, all the way to the eastern county border adjacent to Spartanburg County
