SPARTANBURG COUNTY, S.C. (WSPA) – A man was arrested for setting a home on fire after an argument, the Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Office said.
Deputies were called to an arson on Old Birch Road, where they found the fire department extinguishing the fire. The victim, Jackie Gregory, said she believed her nephew started the fire due to an argument they had.
Gregory told deputies that her nephew, 28-year-old Timothy Michael Bridges Jr., said the argument was about Bridges “not getting his way,” and told Gregory that “he wished she was dead.”
Deputies said the home was not inhabited by Gregory, but was left to her by her father. The home contained Gregory’s belongings and that she was fixing up the home to make it livable.
A witness told deputies that Bridges made the comment on Friday that he would burn the home to the ground. The witness also told deputies that Bridges walked up to the address, made no comments about the fire and “jumped in the shower immediately.”
Deputies said another witness captured the incident on their door camera, which showed a white male standing near the residence as the fire began to erupt.
