Deputies with the Animal Control Unit were called to a Lindsey Street home in October, after a neighbor reported the couple who lived there were gone for weeks, leaving behind more than a dozen dogs.
Deputies found at least 14 dogs “with feces caked into their paws, ribs exposed,” and some that faced major medical issues. A search warrant of the property uncovered some had visible wounds. The report said there was No sign of food or water.
On November 8, 2024, 25 year old Tyler Jackson and 24-year-old Courtney Watson were arrested and charged with 17 counts of Ill Treatment of Animals and 3 counts of Failure to Bury. They were booked into the Anderson County Detention Center and face an $81,500 Surety Bond.
The Anderson Animal Control Unit was able to save more than a dozen dogs, but because of the “deplorable conditions” in which they were living in, 3 had already passed away.
