We’re just hours away from kickoff between No. 5 Texas and No. 12 Clemson.
It will mark the first-ever College Football Playoff game at Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium. The Longhorns have certainly earned a home playoff game with an 11-2 overall record, one of those losses coming in the SEC Championship game.
Much of Texas’ success this season is due to their stout defense. A variety of playmakers have showed up in big moments for the Longhorns and many college football analysts believe it’s what will be the difference maker in the playoff.
During ESPN’s College GameDay set on Saturday morning, Kirk Herbsreit gave high praise to Texas’ defense. “They’re (Clemson) going against the best defense in the country in my opinion in Texas,” Herbstreit began.
“Texas doesn’t give up any big plays. They’re second in the nation in allowing 20 yards or more, so Clemson is going to have to find a way to hit explosives against I think one of the best secondaries, if not the top secondary, in the country.”
