GREENVILLE, S.C. (WSPA) – The City of Greenville approved 100 units of affordable housing as part of a project along Laurens Road.
Planning Commissioners voted 6 to 0 to approve the apartment complex at the corner of Ackley Road and Laurens Road.
The two, four story buildings will include 4,200 square feet of commercial space.
It will include a retail patio, playground and walking trail.
The complex will serve for residents making between $12,000 and $60,000 a year, which is 20% to 70% of the area median income. The unit count had been reduced from 116 to 100, adding more 2 and 3-bedroom options.
The city said the project is possible after receiving Low-Income Housing Tax Credits from South Carolina Housing in September 2024.
The project will go through another round of approvals but is expected to break ground later this year.
The project was initially approved in July 2021, but had to go through modifications.
