CLEMSON, S.C. (Clemson Athletics) – The Clemson Tigers (10-7, 3-2) fell 67-58 to the No. 3 Notre Dame Fighting Irish (14-2, 5-0) in a hard-fought battle in Littlejohn Coliseum this afternoon. In the second quarter, Loyal McQueen surpassed her 1,000th career point milestone with 6:33 to play in the second quarter. She is the third Tiger to surpass the milestone this season, joining Tessa Miller and Raven Thompson. She and Hannah Kohn tied as leading scorers for the Tigers this afternoon, both notching 14 points.
The Tigers posed a serious defensive threat against the Fighting Irish. Both Addie Porter and Mia Moore grabbed steals in the first quarter alone, holding the No. 3 Irish to only a six point advantage going into period two. McQueen scored her 1,000th career point during the quarter on a jumper from the ACC logo, and Clemson kept the margin to single digits going into the half.
Clemson knocked down some crucial shots in the second half, keeping it competitive with Notre Dame down to the last minutes of play. The Tigers outscored the Irish 19-17 in the third quarter, and kept the margin to three points in the fourth, holding the Irish to only one made 3FG in the entire second half. The Tigers held Notre Dame to only 67 points, tying as their lowest-scoring game of the season, and only three made three-pointers on 14 attempts…
