Sticky Fingers barbecue chain files for bankruptcy

South Carolina-based Sticky Fingers Restaurants has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection. The barbecue chain operates four locations in Greenville, North Charleston, and Summerville, S.C., and Chattanooga, Tenn.

Sticky Fingers was founded in 1992 and grew to 15 locations, according to the Post and Courier. The founders — Todd Eischeid, Jeff Goldstein, and Chad Walldorf — eventually sold the company and the business changed ownership several times. According to its website, this inconsistent leadership “led to a decline in food quality and service and eventually a decline in sales.”

The chain had 11 locations in South Carolina, Tennessee, and Florida prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, but the economic impacts from the crisis forced the chain to close nine of those locations. It eventually opened two more locations prior to last week’s Chapter 11 filing…
