Our cocktailin’ adventure this month took us a bit out of the city to a happening spot that we are so excited to share! HeyDay Sandwiches and Cocktails on Poinsett Highway is most definitely not your average sandwich shop. While they have some of the most amazing sandwiches coming from the kitchen, the menu includes plenty of enticing salads and snacks that are not to be missed. With Tanner behind the bar and General Manager James providing backup, there is always just the right beverage to accompany whatever suits your fancy.
Come to play and stay…
The folks behind HeyDay pride themselves on being a cornerstone of the Greenville social scene, teaming up with local groups to create fun events like mixology classes, kids’ activities, holiday gatherings, etc. And their outdoor area is abuzz in the warmer months with music bingo on Tuesdays, live music on the weekends and Yoga in the Yard on Sunday mornings. A converted vintage Airstream camper serves as the bar, with frozen cocktails, kids’ slushies and other seasonal treats. They have all the goods to keep even the most restless among us entertained!
More Drinkin’ on the Job: Ristorante Bergamo is an Italian classic downtown
The Gin Basil Smash
This is the perfect accompaniment to an evening with friends or family while you play, take in a game or enjoy the great outdoor setting. New Amsterdam Gin, lemon, fresh basil and simple syrup come together in a beautifully botanical way. This one will blossom on your tastebuds and have you anticipating spring … and your next sip.
The Tangerine Mezcal Margarita
Heyday’s take on a margarita is a delightful explosion of flavors that sends it quickly to the top of the margaritas we have tasted of late! The tangerine is innovative and irresistible. By combining two tequilas, a balanced and subtle smokiness is matched by just the right amount of tart and tang. A Tajin rim takes it to the next level.
The Pear Mule
No need to be stubborn about ordering this drink ’cause you’re guaranteed to get a kick out of it! Pear vodka, mint, lime and ginger beer turn this cocktail into a flavor bouquet of fresh, fruity and flowery notes. Spring will seem that much closer as you savor this dreamy cocktail.
Dining Out: HeyDay, the latest KO Restaurants concept, offers good food, drinks and fun
About those sandwiches …
Come for the smash burger… but the Birria French dip and pastrami Reuben are calling our names! Owners Paul and Sarah Klaassen have some history behind their culinary creations. They worked together as executive chefs at the iconic Biltmore Estate for several years before taking the leap into their next chapter: founding KO Restaurant Group, which operates the flagship HenDough (Hendersonville), Auction House Food Hall (Fletcher), and local favorites Mercado, KO Burger, HenDough and Lob Father at Greenville’s Gather. HeyDay is yet another example of working toward their passion for bringing together exceptional food and community connection.
