Greenville & Pickens, SC: Ongoing Air Quality Alert from Wildfires with Smoke Drifting into North Carolina

Greenville, SC – Smoke from two wildfires continues to affect air quality across South Carolina’s Upstate region, with impacts extending into western North Carolina through Saturday night and beyond.

According to the South Carolina Department of Environmental Services, an Air Quality Alert remains in effect for the Greenville and Pickens mountain areas until further notice due to elevated fine particulate levels. The alert is driven by limited atmospheric dispersion from the Table Rock wildfire in Pickens County and the Persimmon Ridge wildfire in Greenville County.

Light winds and stable overnight conditions are allowing smoke to linger, especially in mountain valleys.
