Severe weather threatens the state on Monday

A high-pressure system located over the Mid-Atlantic will continue to bring winds from the south-southeast across South Carolina. It will also bring warmer-than-average temperatures on Sunday and Monday, staying between the upper 70s and low 80s.

Severe weather risk comes on Monday.

The week starts with a cold front moving closer to South Carolina, bringing a slight risk of severe weather. A few isolated storms could be moving through that could turn severe, producing damaging winds and tornadic storms. Ensure you have at least 3 ways of receiving weather alerts between Monday and Tuesday morning.

The cold front will likely push through the state. However, it will also lose its speed as it retracts as a stationary front. On Tuesday, a warm front will follow. This warm front will be part of another low-pressure system, exiting the Rockies on Wednesday morning.
