PENDLETON, S.C. (WSPA) – Pendleton is in the process of turning what used to be a textile mill into an apartment complex, calling it “Pendleton Mill Lofts.”
The Cheney Mill has a long local history, but this old textile mill property has been abandoned for years.
“It had a good amount, I’d say, of hazardous material issues or hazmat issues. So, part of what Camden properties has had to do is of course, remediate the hazardous materials that were here on site. They have to do that to actually make all the boxes get checked for the tax credits that they’re going to be using,” said Mayor Frank Crenshaw.
Crews are in the process of flipping this mill into an apartment complex. They’ve even added an extension on the side with 120 units total…
