8 Greenville students take flight for SC Aviation Week

Eight high school students took flight April 30 at Greenville Downtown Airport for South Carolina Aviation Week.

The annual celebration highlights the educational and economic impact of aviation on local communities. Fifty-eight public-use airports are located in South Carolina, including the Greenville Downtown Airport.

The airport, located at 100 Tower Drive near Greenville Convention Center, partnered with the Greenville Technical Charter High School and Greenville County Schools’ Career and Technical Education Innovation Center to offer a unique learning experience for students interested in becoming pilots. Both schools offer aviation-focused programs for high school students.

Four students selected from each school participated in a 45-minute discovery flight on April 30 with the flight schools located at the Greenville Downtown Airport.
