Greenville deputies mourn the loss of command staff member

GREENVILLE COUNTY, S.C. (WSPA) – The Greenville County Sheriff’s Office announced the passing of Major Mike East, who dedicated 46 years of unwavering service to the people.

Deputies described Major East as a pillar of the Greenville County agency and community.

“Major East was a man who didn’t just wear the badge—he lived the calling,” said Sheriff Hobart Lewis. “He highlighted what it means to be a deputy sheriff. He pushed all of us to uphold the Sheriff’s Office to the highest standards, and he did so with humility, humor, and heart. Major East was a dear friend who has certainly left an everlasting legacy at the Greenville County Sheriff’s Office.”…
