Be vigilant: Simpsonville police share tips to avoid ATM thefts

SIMPSONVILLE, S.C. (WSPA) – Simpsonville police are warning people of “jugging,” a tactic thieves are using by targeting unsuspecting victims, following them home from the ATM and breaking into their vehicles.

The Simpsonville Police Department is investigating several jugging incidents they said happened over the weekend in the Greenville area.

“Jugging is where people are actually sitting in parking lots of banks and watching people go through the ATM or come out with an envelope of cash, walking out the bank’s doors and then following the person,” said Captain Cheryl Schofield, with the Simpsonville Police Department…
