Acres of land dubbed ‘eyesore’ repurposed for meadow project in Greenville

GREENVILLE, S.C. (WSPA) – Work is underway to transform a space some called an eyesore in downtown Greenville into something useful.

Around two acres of land on South Academy Street between Falls Park and Unity Park is being repurposed. Representatives of Friends of The Reedy River, leading the project, said weeds will be cleared in the area near Linky Stone Park to make space for The Reedy River Meadow.

It involves removing all the invasive species like Tree of Heaven and Johnson Grass, and replacing them with native species, including Butterfly Milkweeds and Black Eyed Susans…
