Freedom, food & fellowship: Upstate celebrates Juneteenth

ANDERSON, S.C. (WSPA) – Several events are going on in honor of Juneteenth. The Mountain Spring Baptist Church East campus was full of action, commemorating the end of slavery.

A large crowd spent the afternoon celebrating Freedom Day with card games, delicious soul food, supporting black-owned businesses, and more.

“We are here today to commemorate black liberation,” said Reverend C. Allen Moses. “It was June 19, 1865, when word reached Galveston, Texas, concerning the emancipation of blacks in America. We are here to celebrate black liberation and celebrate our Freedom Day.”…
