Suspect sentenced in shooting death of man in Columbia for a wedding

COLUMBIA, S.C. — A man charged in in connection to the 2020 shooting death of a Greenville man who had come to Columbia for a wedding has pleaded guilty, according to Columbia Police.

Police say Zachery Williams pleaded guilty Monday to voluntary manslaughter and was sentenced to 27 years in prison for the shooting of 27-year-old Wesley Colin Brown, of Greenville, who was attending a wedding in Columbia when he was killed during an armed robbery on Senate Street.

Police had previously said that around 8 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 4, a passersby called 911 and reported finding the body of a man in the 1700 block of Senate Street. When officers arrived, they found the male victim with serious bodily injuries…
