Upstate community remembers life of 12-year-old who passed from rare infection

GREENVILLE, S.C. (FOX Carolina) – An Upstate family and community is mourning the loss of a 12-year-old girl who passed from a infection that is especially rare in adolescence.

Ansley “Payce” Chappell, a rising seventh grade at Dacusville Middle School, passed from bacterial meningitis strep B on Tuesday morning, according to her family.

“Payce was a kind, bright, and determined young lady whose positive spirit and warm smile left a lasting impact on everyone who knew her,” the school said. “She represented the very best of our Dacusville community, and her presence will be deeply missed.”…
