Rabid racoon found in Anderson County, pet exposed

ANDERSON COUNTY, S.C. (WSPA) – A racoon tested positive for rabies and was exposed to one pet in Iva.

The South Carolina Department of Public Health said the rabid racoon was found near Baxter Drive and Antreville Highway, in Iva. The racoon was tested on July 1 and was confirmed to have rabies July 2.

No people were reported to have been exposed, however a cat was exposed and will be quarantined…
