Amid recent shootings, Spartanburg mayor calls for end to gun violence

SPARTANBURG, S.C. (WSPA) — In response to a recent uptick in shootings, Spartanburg Mayor Jerome Rice is calling on the community to come together and help curb gun violence.

Rice released a letter Monday afternoon addressing the issue, urging the city’s youth, parents, and guardians to take greater responsibility. He also called for responsible gun ownership in the wake of recent crimes involving stolen firearms.
