NHC: Tropical Disturbance in the Gulf given ‘moderate’ chance to develop

GREENVILLE, S.C. (FOX Carolina) – The National Hurricane Center (NHC) is currently monitoring an area in the Gulf that could develop into a tropical system over the coming days.

As it normally is during the summer months, the Gulf is a generally favorable environment for tropical development as sea surface temperatures are notoriously warm, which has led to the rapid intensification of very established tropical systems in the past.

Should a tropical system be developed out of this disturbance, it would be the fourth named cyclone of the season and would be named Dexter…
