Woodruff man sentenced to over three decades for murder

An Upstate man will spend more than three decades behind bars after pleading guilty to murder. 35 year old, Cody Flynn Kennerly of Woodruff was arrested after a deadly shooting, over 4 years ago.

Court records show that Kennerly shot his former co-worker Jason Hammett. The victim’s truck had broken down on Old Spartanburg Highway and the following day when Hammett and two women went to pick up the truck.

That’s when Kennerly showed up and shot Hammett, then fired at the two women. Hammett was taken to a hospital where he died two days after the shooting…
