Spartanburg County Sheriff asks state to audit Crime Stoppers account

SPARTANBURG COUNTY, S.C. (WSPA) – Interim Spartanburg County Sheriff Jeffery Stephens has asked the South Carolina Secretary of State’s office to audit the county’s account with Crime Stoppers.

The sheriff’s office announced the decision Tuesday afternoon.

At his introductory press conference, Stephens said he was making a full review of department finances a top priority. The sheriff’s office said the effort included having internal auditors review county accounts as well as accounts which don’t utilize county funds…
