Anderson Co. EMS recognized for pediatric treatment abilities

ANDERSON COUNTY, S.C. (WSPA) – Anderson County EMS was recently named as the first non-transport agency in South Carolina that can treat children before an ambulance arrives.

Non-transport paramedics drive to the scene when they get a call about a child in a critical situation.

“Pediatrics is such a fearful sector of our population when it comes to health care. I’ve worked as a nurse in the hospital and the same fear that you experience when you know you’re getting a pediatric patient coming in the emergency room. I know our paramedics and our field crews face that challenge out in the field, knowing even less about what they’re heading into,” said Teryi Louch, Anderson County EMS CQI and Training Coordinator.

County leaders said there are 13 quick response vehicles stationed across the county…
