Two Upstate restaurant concepts under one roof: ‘Refreshing approach to the food’

A fast-casual dual restaurant concept at 1010 Woods Crossing Road is operating in the shadows of both a 28-year-old storied deli and an established Spanish and California-style eatery.

Erika Mejia-Dila, who recently took ownership of the former Empire Deli and rebranded the concept into Daily Bread Deli, has also reopened Califas — all under the same roof. She first considered the namesake “Haywood Corners Deli,” but decided on Daily Bread, the first prayer learned from her grandmother.
